Regarding my opponent and SJR 14 to triple your property taxes
The amendment SJR 14 to triple your property taxes (called PLAN C by the Las Vegas Review Journal (1) as they could not get the 2/3rds votes for a tax increase [28 votes of 42] in two different legislative attempts) was introduced as Senate Joint Resolution 14 (SJR 14) on March 27, 2017. The Nevada Assembly approved the amendment 27 to 15 on June 5, 2017.
All of the House Democrats supported the amendment, while all of the Republicans opposed the amendment. For the measure to be placed on the 2020 ballot, it must first pass the Nevada Assembly again in 2019.
This is the Democrats’ priority for the 2019 legislature and my opponent, while obviously trying to remain silent on the issue, has nonetheless publicly signed his name to an agreement to support the Nevada State Democrat Party’s plans ( 2016 Nevada State Democratic Party Plank #127 “we support progressive tax policies) just as I have signed publicly my name to an agreement to support the Nevada Republican Party’s opposition to this plan. In addition, I have doubled down on my opposition as I also signed the ‘No New Taxes’ Pledge and tripled down on my opposition by stating publicly my opposition and that I would promise to vote a resounding ‘NO’ on this in my campaign literature.
