Campaign statement from Stan Vaughan for Nevada State Assembly 15
3 October 2020
We are 2 weeks out from early voting and as your candidate to represent YOU in Assembly 15, I would hope and pray you as a voter will consider a number of things.
The first sentence of the preamble to the US Constitution states that we the people ordained and established it for domestic tranquility.
When your current Assembly representative is admitting on his own social media that he has been involved in violent protests and shutting down freeways, I must remind you, the voter, that Article VI of the US Constitution states that the members of the several State legislatures are bound by oath to support the US Constitution.
“Faith without works is dead” (James 2.26) and I add that “politics without policies is a waste of time.”
Noah Webster defined a patriot as someone who has served his country and protects its rights and maintains its laws with vigor and purity. I can say as someone who has served you in the US Army that I will also, unlike my opponent protect your rights and help maintain your laws, not break them intentionally as my opponent boasts of. Patriotism is the characteristic of a good citizen, the noblest of passions. I promise passion and service to you the voters. However, like faith without works being dead, I can not serve you unless you put in the work of voting.
As Republican leader in the Assembly Dr. Robin Titus has stated in commercials, during the past legislative sessions, we have seen an abuse of power by Democrat controlled majority assembly, including the unconstitutional taxes enacted without the required 2/3 majority in both houses.
I say that a spirit of domination is always to be guarded against. The above civil tyranny may seem to the Democrat controlled majority to simply be a drop in the bucket, but if not immediately checked by you, the voter, at length it will be a mighty torrent or raging waves of the sea.
The essence of good government consists of making good laws AND the wise and just execution of them.
I will fight for you, your liberties, your estates. If the civil tyranny of those like your current assemblyman can tax you without your consent in violation of our State Constitution, without a 2/3 majority, what else can he and the assembly arbitrarily take at their pleasure?
Thank you for your support.
Stan Vaughan for Assembly 15.
